The primary mission of the Writing Center of the School of Humanities at the University of Crete is the Academic Literacy of its students.

More specifically, it provides the following services:

Offering courses on language and academic literacy to undergraduate and postgraduate students, aimed at training them in matters of structure, organization, and style of their written and oral discourse, precision in expression, and the correction and editing of written academic texts.
Individualized support for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as doctoral candidates, on matters of linguistic proficiency of their work (upon referral by their instructor).
Training students in the utilization of language resources.
Training students in the specificities and possibilities of electronic writing (utilizing the capabilities offered by word processors such as Word, as well as programs for correcting spelling and syntactic errors).
As a further possibility, the Writing Center can also design and implement research and educational activities related to literacy issues for vulnerable social groups.

It was established on October 31, 2019 (Government Gazette Issue B’ 3972/31.10.2019).
