The TALOS Laboratory – Artificial Intelligence for the Humanities and Social Sciences (founded: August 2024) is interdisciplinary and belongs to the School of Humanities at the University of Crete: its members belong to all three Departments of the School of Humanities (Philology, History and Archaeology, and Philosophy). The TALOS Laboratory is the result of the homonymous research program that has received funding from the European Commission (talos-ai4ssh.uoc.gr). Its aim is to address research and teaching needs in the constantly evolving field of artificial intelligence and its applications in the humanities and social sciences, as well as to raise awareness on issues of artificial intelligence ethics. The Laboratory organizes a number of activities, such as lectures, seminars, conferences, open online courses, etc., and also regularly accepts students for internships.
